LED lights are criticized for having an adverse effect on the retina of the eyes
The LED’s are also known as the Light emitting diodes which are utilized in many different ways which includes the automotive, home lighting, video displays and also the traffic signals. The LEDs are highly energy efficient and they last longer up to the period of three years. You can also recycle them easily in comparison to the compact fluorescent lightening bulbs .LED lights are criticized by people as they have an adverse effect on the retina of the eyes. It occurs due to the accumulation of the cellular debris which is called lipofuscin in the retinal pigment epithelium which is actually responsible for the damage. The extent of the harm which LED light causes depends upon the built in protection which is being assigned to the product.
Although the world is getting brighter due to energy saving LEDs but it has its own environmental cost
The bigger and brighter the source of the illumination is, the higher is the risk to the retina. The LEDs are the directional lights and these lights do not radiate light in 360 degrees just like the CFL’s do .The blue light waves are more harmful to the retina of all those people who are quite prone to muscular issues due to the ageing, environment or the genes.
Light pollution has increased to a much greater extend due to the prevalence of LED light
The light pollution has also increased due to the prevalence of the LED lights. Although the world is getting brighter due to the energy saving LEDs but it has its own environmental cost too. Few of the findings which are published in the Journal of Science Advances have found that the surfaces which have been lit artificially have grown to 2.2 % percent every year from 2012 to 2016. Although the environmental concerns drove the move into the adoption of the LED lights but the risk is that too much of the light is creating new sets of the problems.
This light has been found to threaten nocturnal animals, plants, micro organisms and it is also affecting the sleep patterns of humans
The emission of the artificial lights into the atmosphere continues to increase further and it is eroding the remaining land area of the Earth which is experiencing the natural day light cycles. Well this is a serious concern as the artificial lights serve as the environmental pollutant. This light has been found to threaten the nocturnal animals, plants as well as the micro organisms and it is also affecting the sleep patterns of the humans. The lack of sleep further makes us susceptible to a wide range of the health problems which include the diabetes, high blood pressure and also the depression. Well this is not for the first time that these LEDs have come under the scrutiny for the safety concerns. Earlier the CFLs (Compact fluorescent light bulbs) have also been citied for containing the high level of the mercury and also the UV radiation.
